Springfield School Employees Sue Over Racial Equity Training

Two Springfield school employees are suing the district over its mandatory equity training.

The federal lawsuit filed Wednesday alleges the training violated the employees' rights and is an unconstitutional condition of employment. It was filed by Jennifer Lumley, a records secretary for the special services department, and Brooke Henderson, who works on plans for students with disabilities. Henderson is a member of Back on Track America and has frequently accused the district of inserting critical race theory into its equity training.

A spokesperson for the school district called the lawsuit a misinformation campaign designed to undermine the district's efforts to provide equity for everyone.
