Sheriff investigates after shots fired at Missouri abbey

The Clinton County Sheriff is investigating after shots were fired at least four times in the last two years at a northeast Missouri abbey.

Benefactors started digging holes this week for an 8-foot wall outside the the abbey for the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles near Gower.

The last shooting in March sent bullets into the bedroom of Mother Abbess Cecilia.

Two other shootings occurred in February and the first was in July 2019. No was injured.

Clinton County Sheriff's Sgt. Josh Smith said no suspects have been identified.

Mother Cecilia said it's unlikely the shots are from hunters or nearby property because they have occurred late in the evening.
