Some Missourians lose unemployment benefit

Missourians are no longer eligible for the Extended Benefit (EB) unemployment program because the States unemployment rate has dropped. The program allows people on unemployment to receive benefits after they’ve used up regular aids from the state and other programs.

Missouri’s unemployment rate of 7.4 percent is the lowest it has been in 38 months, and has been declining steadily. Missouri’s three-month average total unemployment rate is less than 110 percent of any other comparable unemployment rate over the past three years. This disqualifies Missouri from remaining in the Extended Benefits program.
