TED, a nonprofit group devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading,” comes to Columbia Saturday for the third time.

This year, TEDxCoMo will feature 18 speakers from around the nation that will focus on the power of feedback.

Speaker Joy Mayer will cover what to do when faced with feedback while Kam Philips will talk about how mentorship helps people learn from their mistakes. TEDxCoMo organizer Keith Politte says people learn from receiving feedback.

“What we’ve tried to do is bring in speakers that can expand upon our theme, which is feedback. And we saw feedback is really kind of a metaphor for the exchange of information, learning from the exchange of information,” Politte said.

Politte says he hopes attendees will be inspired and will be able to recognize the feedback that could help them every day.

“What we’d like to do, in addition to people being inspired by our speakers, I think success would be measured by people leaving the event by being a bit more mindful of the feedback loops that surround them in everyday life,” Politte said.

TEDxCoMo will be held at the Missouri Theatre for the Arts on Saturday.
