The donation to MU from the Sidney Kimmel Foundation amounts to $5.5 million.

MU Scientists have received a 5.5 million dollars donation from the Sidney Kimmel Foundation. The money will go toward efforts in the search for new forms of alternative energy.

By Tatiana Darie (Columbia, Mo.)

MU Spokesperson, Christian Basi, says this gift is a great appreciation for the MU scientist community:

“A gift like this, especially from someone who has not had the opportunity to visit our campus really recognizes our scientists for their past work as well as the potential for their future discoveries,” Basi said.

The donation will be used to create the Sidney Kimmel Institute for Nuclear Renaissance. The institute will bring scientists in several major disciplines including physics, engineering, material science, chemistry and the MU Research Reactor to work in collaboration.
