Starting July 6, KCUR 89.3 will make changes to its program schedule, primarily affecting the evening programming hours. KCUR’s purchase of KWJC 91.9 FM, will bring classical music back to the Kansas City metro 24 hours a day.
This fantastic addition to the radio landscape ensures classical music has an essential platform on Kansas City’s airwaves. Therefore, KCUR will transition its weekday evening lineup to include programs that will strengthen the high-quality news and information that listeners have come to rely on for years.
At 9 p.m. KCUR will continue its popular Monday through Thursday strip of programming that provides listeners a break from the day’s news. On Mondays, The Pulse takes you behind the doors of operating rooms, into the labs with some of the world’s foremost scientists, and back in time to explore life-changing innovations. The Pulse delivers health and science stories in ways that matter to you, and answers questions you never knew you had.
Tuesdays will feature This American Life bringing the best of nonfiction storytelling to the radio, with themed, offbeat, true stories that illuminate the extraordinary side of everyday life.
On Wednesdays, it’s The Moth Radio Hour, humorous, heartbreaking and true stories told live on stage. No script. No props. Just a microphone, a spotlight and room full of strangers.
Then on Thursdays, Snap Judgment mixes real stories with killer beats to produce cinematic, and dramatic radio.
At 10 p.m., Remix presents a stream of the best stories and documentaries, handpicked from both independent creators and the podcast network Radiotopia. A lot of what Remix presents isn't heard anywhere else: creative spoken-word programs, amazing podcasts, fascinating interviews, and intriguing sounds.
