Columbia Task Force Hosts Climate Change Forum

Columbia residents had the chance to weigh in on climate change at a forum held last night at city hall. The event was hosted by a task force appointed by the mayor last year. A plan was presented to eliminate Columbia municipal emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050 at different stations the public could visit during the forum.

Jay Hasheider, the chair of the mayor’s task force, said Columbia can be the model for other cities to follow.

“What we’re doing here will help our climate for sure but in doing this we can set that path, that leadership position so that other communities can follow us,” Hasheider said.

The plan will be presented to the council in May 2019 and completed by June.
