Another Round of Weather Hits Mid-Missouri

Ryan Famuliner

Missouri is getting hit with another winter blast today, causing treacherous driving conditions and leading some school districts to cancel classes.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Friday for much of Missouri, except the extreme northeast corner.

Snow began falling midmorning with accumulations of up to 5 inches expected. In some areas, sleet and freezing rain also are possible, making roads dangerous.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said this afernoon portions of Interstate 70 across the state are closed because of traffic accidents.

MU implemented a full closure of its campus and UM system offices at 2 this afternoon, with MU Health Care, hospitals and the veterinary hospital open and maintaining normal hours.

The City of Columbia has crews treating and plowing priority routes in the city. Using caution and staying off the roads is recommended.

More information about road clearances and weather is on the city’s website. Check MoDot's road map for travel conditions.
