New Library in Holts Summit to Open in March

The Holts Summit Public library will open its doors March 5 at 3 p.m. It is located in Summit Plaza and will be open 20 hours a week. The library will replace the bi-monthly bookmobile stops and become part of the Daniel Boone Regional Library network. Spokesperson Mitzi St. John says the community has been a driving force behind the addition of a new library.

“The community is so excited,” St. John said. “They are ready to have a regular facility that they can visit more than just a few days of the month.”

St. John says the county has been trying to move closer to getting a library with the bookmobile stops and Library-To-Go lockers, but it was really the community who made the final push.

“We’ve had a lot of people very interested,” St. John said. “They see us working and stop by and ask us how it’s going. We have received a lot of attention from the community.”

Along with books, the library will provide computers, music and free Wi-Fi. There will also be classes and weekly story times. An open house will be held March 20 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. More information on the library can be found at dbrl.org.
