Public safety officials are preparing for cold temperatures and expected snowfall of up to six inches throughout much of the state tonight and Sunday. And Mid-Missouri is under a winter storm watch from Saturday midnight through Sunday afternoon, with three to four inches of snow and dangerous travel conditions possible in central Missouri.

Columbia plow crews are scheduled to treat and plow priority routes if necessary Saturday evening. A temporary warming center will be open at Wabash Station, 126 N. 10th St., from Saturday evening at 7pm to Sunday morning. Room at the Inn is providing shelter for the homeless at Broadway Christian Church, 2601 W. Broadway, March 3-9. Go to the city's website for more information on warming centers.

Residents are advised to stock cars and homes with storm supplies, and to refrain from parking on priority routes as vehicles on those routes are subject to towing.

The City of Columbia is preparing for possible power outages, which can be reported to the city by calling 573.875.2555. Power outages can be tracked at the city's outage map. To see more information about road conditions and weather preparation in Columbia, go to to the city’s weather page. And MoDot's road map has information on travel conditions.

Meanwhile, True False Film Festival organizers have notified festival-goers that "the show will go on!" and have advised that visitors clear vehicles from downtown streets by 11pm to allow city plow crews to work. Where possible, festival organizers say film Q lines will be moved inside during Sunday's festival, particularly at the Missouri Theatre, Jesse Auditorium, Rhynsburger Theatre, The Picturehouse, and Forrest Theater.

This story will continue to be updated with new information.
