Three local candidates ran unopposed for state legislature seats this election. Democrat Stephen Webber will serve his fourth term representing Missouri’s 46th District.
Caleb Jones, a Republican will serve his third term representing the state’s 50th district. He’s thankful for the support of his constituents through his first two terms.
“I’ve tried to do what’s best for the district and keep the voters thoughts and desires in mind whenever we were making decisions down there,” he said.
Kip Kendrick will begin his first term as a state representative. The democrat is taking over for Chris Kelly in the state’s 45th district. He says he knows he has big shoes to fill but is up for the challenge.
“I’ll work as hard as I can to represent the district and I hope I make him proud,” he said.
Kendrick was at Boone County judge candidate Kim Shaw’s watch party waiting for results to come in on her race as well as the amendments on the state ballot. Representing a district with such a focus on both elementary and secondary education, Kendrick was hopeful that amendment three would fail.
“I think it sends the right message to our teachers that we support them,” Kendrick said.
