Freshmen Enrollment Expected to Increase, MU announces

MU announced Thursday that freshmen student enrollment is expected to increase in fall 2019.

The numbers have not been finalized, but so far 5,460 students have paid enrollment deposits for the fall, according to an MU news release. That's about a 15 percent increase over the fall 2018 class, which had 4,696 students, according to the release.

“We are delighted that so many students have chosen to make Mizzou their academic home,” Chancellor Alexander Cartwright said in a statement. “From our outstanding and comprehensive academic offerings to an unparalleled campus experience, there is no better choice these students could have made. We can’t wait to welcome these new Tigers to campus.”

After total enrollment dropped 22.7 percent from 2015 to 2016, then another 14.6 percent from 2016 to 2017, MU saw an increase in freshman enrollment in 2018, according to previous Missourian reporting.
