New Boone County 'I Voted' Sticker Chosen

Boone County Clerk's Office

A new “I Voted” sticker is coming to Boone County for 2020 and 2021 after the public chose the winner out of four final designs from high school students.

Audrey Cornell, a Battle High School student, won the contest with 45% of the vote.

The design features A blue state of Missouri, with red and white stripes as the backdrop with the words “I Voted” across the middle.

According to Boone County Clerk Brianna Lennon, over 7,200 people voted.

Lennon said that asking high schoolers to contribute sticker ideas can encourage them to participate in elections right when the students coming of age to vote.

“They are thinking about the political process and they want to get involved and this was a way we could start them early so they could have some ownership of our democracy and really make their own voices heard,” Lennon said.

Lennon said that because of the turnout this time around, she hopes this will become a biannual event.

The new design will debut in the presidential primary election on March 10, 2020.

Over 130 designs were submitted for this competition.
