New Manager Tasked With Filling Vacant Posts In City Government

Once the details of his contract are ironed out and he moves into the city, John Glascock will shift from interim city manager to the permanent position.

Despite those technicalities, Glascock is already working hard to fill five vacant positions in the upper echelon of city administration: deputy city manager, finance director, police chief, fire chief and internal auditor.

While there are many internal options to fill these positions, Glascock said he is willing to look “far down the chain.”

“We have an opportunity to hire within,” Glascock said, “but you also want to give new blood sometimes, you know. Sometimes change is needed.”
