Columbia Public Schools has lost another highly-anticipated high school football match-up due to COVID-19 concerns.

Battle and Rock Bridge High School were slated to play against one another this Friday.

However, due to a positive COVID-19 test that may have impacted the team, Rock Bridge aired on the side of caution and decided to cancel the upcoming matchup with their in-town rival.

Rock Bridge Principal, Jacob Sirna, released a statement on Twitter this morning regarding the school’s announcement.

Rock Bridge has not had any scheduling issues this football season related to COVID-19 up until this week.

For Battle, this is the third consecutive week in which it has either canceled, rescheduled, or will have to reschedule a game.

Battle will be searching for a new opponent throughout the course of this week.

The only remaining matchup between Columbia Public Schools this season is Rock Bridge vs. Hickman High School. The game is set to be played on Oct. 16.
