Mayor Lyda Krewson says trick-or-treating won't be canceled in St. Louis this Halloween. But health department Director Dr. Frederick Echols on Thursday said social distancing and face mask requirements will still be in place.
He recommended socially distanced trunk-or-treat events. He also advised ditching communal candy bowls and instead giving out pre-packaged goodie bags. Meanwhile, Jefferson County health officials say they're overwhelmed with a rise in coronavirus cases in the rural and suburban area south of St. Louis.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Thursday that the Jefferson County health department director says the agency is stretched thin with contact tracing.
