A staff member at the Ozark Correctional Center in Fordland has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, anyone who has had close contact with a staff member who has tested positive is notified first and then all staff are notified.  Staff members who have the illness are sent home for 14 days of quarantine.

Prisoners in facilities where a case has been identified are provided with face coverings and are monitored for symptoms.  If a prisoner shows symptoms, they and their cell mates are isolated, separately, pending test results, according to the department.

In Missouri, 44 inmates and 26 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 since March 23.
