State Funds Go to Lee Heights, Oberlin Valley Wastewater Consolidation Project

Boone County’s wastewater treatment system improvement projects were given a financial boost from state funds, the Boone County Regional Sewer District announced.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources awarded the district $1.22 million to assist the district in their efforts to consolidate wastewater treatment.

The project will include eliminating two treatment facilities in Lee Heights and Oberlin Valley, instead adding pumping stations and connecting them to Columbia’s larger wastewater collection system, according to a Monday news release .

The Oberlin Valley project is estimated to cost about $630,000, and the Lee Heights project will cost around $675,000, according to the district’s website, meaning the funds will cover almost all costs associated with the projects.
