Tracey Nguyen Mang was just three years old when she, along with her mom and two older sisters, left Vietnam in 1981. Just the year before, her three older brothers made a similar journey. And the year before that, it was her dad and eldest brother.
Nguyen Mang now lives in Montclair, New Jersey, which is about 30 minutes northwest of New York City. She has documented her family members’ stories on the podcast Vietnamese Boat People.
