On this Veteran’s Day, one veteran’s world became a lot more accessible.

Two gunshots to the chest paralyzed Corporal Tyler Huffman while serving in Afghanistan in 2010. Today, the Gary Sinise Foundation, The Tunnels to Tower Foundation, and the Jefferson City Community gave Huffman and his family a brand new smart home that will allow him to move freely throughout the house. The state-of-the-art “smart home” allows Tyler easier access, and the ability to control anything from anywhere in the house. All he needs is an IPhone, IPad, or TV. Huffman said he and his family are very privileged to be a part of this, and feel comfortable in the house.

“You couldn’t ask for a better house," said Huffman. "I mean, you can’t build a better one. This is everything we wanted. That’s the way this house is built.”

Huffman said now it’s back to square one to living a normal life in his new home with his wife Melissa and his three year old son Matthew.
