Two people familiar with the situation say two Miami assistant coaches have been told they will be charged with "unethical conduct" when the NCAA presents the Hurricanes' athletic department with its notice of allegations.
The people spoke to The Associated Press Monday on condition of anonymity because neither the NCAA or Miami have announced the contents of the long-awaited letter, which the Hurricanes may receive at any time. The people say the coaches will be cited for violating NCAA bylaw 10.1, a broad rule that covers conduct and cooperating with investigations.
Other coaches and staff are almost certain to be cited.
CBSSports.com reported Monday that former Miami coach and current Missouri basketball coach Frank Haithwill also face "unethical conduct and failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance" charges. Last year, Haith said he was cooperating fully with the NCAA investigation into allegations by a former Hurricanes booster, Nevin Shapiro. Shapiro told Yahoo Sports that Haith approved a $10,000 payment to then-Miami recruit DeQuan Jones. Haith has denied that allegation.
