The University of Missouri is set to hire San Diego State athletic director Jim Sterk as its new Athletic Director.
San Diego State announced last night on its website that Sterk had resigned after six years with the school and would take over at Missouri on Sept. 1.
Sterk has been SDSU’s athletic director for six years. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch his contract under SDSU is up June 30, 2020 and worth a minimum of $315,000 a year.
Missourinet reports that under Sterk’s leadership leadership, fifty SDSU teams have gone on to NCAA championships and 20 of them reached top 25 rankings nationally.
The 60-year-old Sterk will replace Mack Rhoades, who recently left for Baylor. MU has yet to confirm the hire, but the UM System Boar dof Curators are holding a last-minute special meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., as a vote of the board would be needed to approve the hire.
