Mike Kehoe alleging his First Amendment rights were violated when Kehoe preemptively declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard in anticipation of what turned out to be peaceful protests against the Trump administration across the state and nation in June.

James Lemons, 40, filed a lawsuit this week saying the Kansas City Sports Commission was negligent for failing to provide proper security for the Super Bowl rally on February 14, 2024. A commission spokesman said it disagrees with Lemons' “assertions.”
