River flooding planned topic for state Governor's Conference on Agriculture

River flooding is expected to be a major topic at the upcoming Missouri Governor's Conference on Agriculture. (AP)

The Missouri Department of Agriculture says the mid-January event will feature more than 40 state and national speakers.

One of the highlights will be a panel discussion about the future of agriculture along the state's rivers.- Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst will lead the discussion - with officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Missouri Levee & Drainage District Association, the Missouri Farmers Union and the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council all participating.

Afterward, officials with the Environmental Protection Agency will talk about current regulations and recommendations.

The conference is planned for Jan. 19th through the 21st in Kansas City.
