The U.S. Postal Service said it plans to relocate close to their current office in Holts Summit.

The U.S. Postal Service is considering moving the Holts Summit Post Office due to space issues in the existing location.

According to a news release from the Postal Service, it has not yet determined a new location for retail services but is hoping to find a place within 2 miles of the 357 S. Summit Drive location.

The relocation project will consist of finding a suitable substitute location as close as reasonably possible to the existing location, according to the news release. The Postal Service said retail services will continue at the current location until all necessary preparations are complete at the new location.

What the Postal Service is considering

  • Leasing an existing building of 6,000 square feet to move retail and carriers with 44 or more parking spots.
  • Leasing land of approximately 11,000 square feet to place a postal-owned building for retail only or leasing an existing building of approximately 990 square feet for retail with 16 or more parking spots and acquiring a building of approximately 4,700 square feet for the carriers with 36 or more parking spots.
  • Purchasing land of approximately 55,000 square feet to build a new post office.

The Postal Service is inviting residents to send comments on the proposal to United States Postal Service, Attn Holts Summit MO Relocation, PO BOX 27497, Greensboro, NC 27498-1103 within the next 30 days.
