Truman And Churchill | Kansas City Parks Development

Segment 1, beginning at 0:59: An inside look at Harry Truman's relationship with Winston Churchill.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of one of the most famous and consequential events to happen in Missouri. After being introduced by President Harry S. Truman, Winston Churchill delivered his “Iron Curtain” speech in Fulton, Missouri, warning against the dangers posed by the Soviet Union.

Segment 2, beginning at 28:08: What the Kansas City Parks Department has planned for 2021.

Candice Millard and David Von Drehle will be talking about Churchill and Truman at a virtual event hosted by the Truman Library Institute on Wednesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. More information can be found online here.

The public has the opportunity to give feedback on how best to honor Martin Luther King Jr. in Kansas City on Monday, March 8th at 6 p.m. More information is available online here.
