Sherry Wyatt's reason for wanting to revive Columbia's Memorial Day Parade comes from a place of personal significance. In 2012, Sherry lost her son, US Army Spc. Sterling Wyatt, in Afghanistan at age 21. Because of the community's support during that time, Sherry says, "how could we not...bring back such a great event" after a six-year absence?
