This year, ALAS organized a Día de los Muertos event to commemorate the holiday in what one attendee described as an opportunity to get together and honor those who have passed with an added sense of community.
In August, a Missouri law requiring the removal of books containing “sexually explicit images” went into effect.But some advocates are worried that this law will cause educators to start self-censoring for fear of prosecution - leaving students with fewer opportunities to experience diverse viewpoints.
