Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, The State Historical Society of Missouri is taking a "deep dive" into the Missouri Sharecroppers' Strike of 1939. JOAN STACK, Curator of Art Collections, tells us the story of what happened, and shares some poignant images by photographer Arthur Witman that are currently on display inside Ellis Library on the MU campus. Black History Month allows us to look past the "soundbite" history lesson we all grew up with and really focus on learning more about notable figures from our past (think: Harriet Tubman).
