Kurt Schaefer, director of the Department of Natural Resources and a former state Senate Appropriations Committee chairman, will become Commissioner of Administration.

Missouri's Department of Natural Resources awarded $30,000 grant to Cole County to evaluate its drinking water system.

Concerns were raised because the bloom could potentially be a blue-green algae also known as cyanobacteria, which are microscopic organisms found naturally in all types of water.

Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway was the lead Republican attorney general behind the letter. Sent on Hanaway's office letterhead, the attorneys general state that "the upsurge in home-setting chemical abortions has serious implications for the Safe Drinking Water Act."
