The first confirmed case of measles within the state of Missouri in 2025 was announced today. The case was diagnosed in a child visiting Taney County in southern Missouri who had recently traveled abroad.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there have already been more than 700 measles cases in the United States so far this year. That's more than double the number of cases reported in all of 2024.

Researchers at the University of Missouri recently published a study showing that COVID-19 can cause long term damage to the eye if left untreated.
